Toward a No-Code Era: Reinventing Development – Web Hosting | Cloud Computing | Data center

According to Gartner, by 2024, low-code app development will account for more than 65% of app development activity

In one of the previous articles we talked about GPT-3, its capabilities and limitations. However, since the launch of OpenAI’s GPT-3 and its ability to even write code in any language, we have wondered – Will the latest AI kill coding? Not too long ago, researchers wondered if AI would be able to write code by 2040. With GPT-3, machine-dominated coding is knocking at our door.

Besides the rapid progress of AI capabilities, there are other trends forcing people to think about the programming jobs of the future – “No-Code/Low-code”

“No-code” refers to visual tools that make it easier for anyone to create new products, whether websites, designs, data analysis or models. They enable businesses and professionals with little or no coding experience to build apps. WordPress, Wix, and Shopify are good examples of no-code tools that have allowed millions of people to do things on their own rather than hiring a developer or designer.

Benefits of the low-code/no-code approach

– Enables faster development and later deployment

– Amplifies developer capabilities and organizational agility

– Can significantly reduce development costs

The low-code/no-code trend is not just limited to DevOps, but is increasingly becoming a part of AI development, with an increasing number of companies turning to no-code platforms for machine learning. . Automation is increasingly present for the tasks data scientists perform with all major cloud providers who have invested heavily in some type of AutoML initiative or no/low code AI platform.

The user is expected to simply provide data, and the AutoML system automatically determines which approach works best for the particular problem and creates an ML model. It aims to automate the entire AI workflow.

My article on AutoML gives an overview of what it is, the main players in the market and its advantages. It’s a must read for a quick overview of AutoML.

Final remarks

Low-Code/No-code tools are definitely the future, a simple drag and drop will allow people to create magic. In addition to faster development and deployment, low-code/no-code tools allow non-technical professionals to take on development roles. As building things on the internet becomes easier and more accessible, more and more people will become builders. It will also inspire mid-skilled coders to consider upgrading their skills, becoming experts in multiple low-code platforms, or moving into niche citizen developers for a particular industry.
