To provide the best possible user experience (UX) and use the least amount of code possible, the form processing code and the form should be on the same page.

OK. I don’t see anything in there that would prevent the button from working. It is activated and should trigger. Does the form appear to submit or is the button not clickable?

ok, so instead of  just use a space

And if you want/need to pad things out, use CSS padding.

It works on the edges, not the middle of the text

This is where word spacing comes in.
