DAMAC Group, a Dubai-based conglomerate, has partnered with Dataplex Group Limited, a colocation of data center; engineering and construction solutions company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. This partnership will focus on brownfield projects that include modernization of current structures and entirely new, larger-scale projects, with a primary focus on large-scale and bulk colocation clients.

The DAMAC group has also invested in Dataplex. This investment will result in up to 45% ownership in the company over time. Major Dataplex shareholders, DAMAC Group and Chirisa have acquired Abbotstown for the development of a new 70 MW + data center and industrial campus in Dublin, Ireland.

DAMAC Group of Companies is the private investment arm of Dubai-based billionaire Hussain Sajwani, who is known for his successful global real estate development company, DAMAC Properties. The group has a large portfolio in various sectors, including capital markets, real estate, fashion, etc. Prior to this year, DAMAC Group made a foray into the data center industry by launching Edgnex, a global digital infrastructure company headquartered in Dubai.

“DAMAC Group, through its global digital infrastructure company Edgnex, is developing data center facilities to support the growth of digital economies around the world. Our work with Dataplex allows us to meet exponential demand from local markets driven by rapid digital transformation, booming digital economies and growing numbers of internet users ”, noted Hussein Sajwani.

Edgnex, a global digital infrastructure provider, recognizes and invests in upcoming digital hubs and intends to disrupt the local data center market. Over the next few months, Edgnex will announce acquisitions, development projects and partnerships primarily focused on improving local data center facilities in emerging or underserved markets globally. Its mission is to bring agility and new speed to the data center market so that more regional and local economies, end users and businesses can benefit from digital infrastructure.

“We are used to recognizing opportunities, making large investments and seizing the first mover advantage. We are driven by market dynamics, not just who needs capacity now. Where we are going, others follow. Sajwani added.

The DAMAC group’s footprint spans the Middle East, with projects in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. Its success has enabled the company to expand its global presence in places such as Italy, Maldives, Canada and the United Kingdom.

“The DAMAC Group has a unique vision of the data center market and we look forward to helping them expand their disruptive model to more cities around the world. With the DAMAC group, we can provide digital infrastructure in underserved markets and support the growth of local digital economies ”, noted Eddie Kilbane, co-founder and CEO of the Dataplex Group. “Our partnership will allow our organizations to grow together and it will be great to work with the DAMAC group team. “
